So I hope you're having a good labor day.

Because of that, we're going to talk about labor day because questions have come in

over on the other channel about it and it's worth

diving into.

One of the big questions is who are we supposed to be celebrating?

And we'll get to that.

Okay, so the origins.

The first Labor Day was September 5th, 1882 in New York. I know some people are going to argue that. That's from the Department of Labor website. Take it up with them.

It became a national holiday in 1894 when Grover, Cleveland,

I declared it.

That's when it started. Now, this happened at a time when you're looking at around the era of the

second Industrial Revolution. There's a lot of leftist worker-oriented

thought occurring and becoming popular, which also answers another question.

Why do we have Labor Day in September

and why the US really doesn't do a whole lot for May Day?

And the answer to that for a lot of people

is Grover, Cleveland.

He understood what a lot of leftist thought entailed, and he understood the connection to May 1st and May day. So he

thought it would be better to go with the September day as the national holiday because he believed if they made May Day a national holiday with the labor routes that it would basically just constantly turn into a thing of

celebrating leftist thought which wasn't something he he wanted.
