Well, howdy there, internet people, it spell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Johnson saying Congress needs to trade stocks.

You've probably seen the clip by now, but if you haven't, we'll go over it.

And yeah, it definitely shows the thought process of the

Republican Party and how laughable it is that they cast themselves as the party of the working class.

So here's the question that prompted this. Bell, I'm kind of waiting on your take on the Speaker of the House saying that

Congresspeople need to engage in some stock trading to take care of their poor families. Is there any

truth to what he said? Is there a reason you haven't talked about it? Okay.

So I really wasn't going to because I didn't think this story would keep going because the

clip is a year old.

But it has definitely sparked two different conversations and they're both worth talking

about.

Okay.

So for those who don't live online, what exactly did the clip show?

Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, said, quote,

If you stay on this trajectory, you're going to have less qualified people

who are willing to make the extreme sacrifice to run for Congress.

I mean, people just make a reasonable decision as a family on whether or not they can come to Washington

and have a residence here, residents at home, and do all the things that are required. So, the counter argument is,

and I have some sympathy. Look, at least let them, like, engage in some stock trading,

so they can continue to, you know, take care of their family. Okay, so is there any truth to this? Let's put it in

context. Congress people get paid $174,000 per year to start. More if you're in a leadership position.
