So today, we're going to talk about how Trump's approval numbers reveal a major problem for Republicans.

AP Nork surveyed Americans to ask them about how they viewed the effects of Trump's actual policies. Unsurprisingly, Americans view

the first eighth of Trump's presidency as less than successful, regardless of how many

times Trump tells Americans he's doing a wonderful job. Let's just hit the key numbers. Have

Trump's policies helped you? Only 27% of Americans say his

policies have done more to help. 22% say his policies have made no difference. And 49% say they've

done more to hurt. That's brutal. But that's across all political alignments. Surely he's

doing better amongst independents, right? Nope. It's worse all around. Only 20% of

independents say his policies have done more to help, while a full-blown majority of 53% say his policies have done more to hurt.

The numbers aren't great even when just looking at his own party. Only 55% of Republicans

think his policies have done more to help, and 15% admit they've done more to hurt. A quick peak of the American assessment is going

to get under Trump's skin as well. After six months of failed negotiations, Mr. Art of the Deal

has less than a third or 31% of Americans saying he's a good negotiator.

47% say he's not.

When it comes to the most basic question of a politician,

the one that all other questions rest on,

Trump gets failing numbers as well.

When it comes to the question of whether or not Trump even understands the

problems facing people like you, only 23% were on the yes side of that question. 19% were on the

meh, somewhat. And a clear majority were on the not at all or not much side of things.
