So today, we're going to talk about how Trump's $600 billion EU payday isn't a deal.

Learning nothing from the situation with Japan's trade deal, the MAGAverse took Trump's announcement as fact.

They ran with it. As part of the deal,

there was what was described as a pledge from the European Union to invest 600 billion in the

United States. Eyebrows were raised immediately because on the surface, it made exactly zero sense.

Why? Because the EU doesn't have a state-directed economy. It's also not one state. The EU can't commit funds in the way the pledge suggests.

So what's the actual situation? According to reported statements by EU officials, quote, it is not something that the

EU as a public authority can guarantee. It is something which is based on the intentions of the private

companies. And the number was, quote, based on detailed discussions with different business associations

and companies in order to see what their investment intentions are.

There is no specified timeline for the investments. It certainly seems like the EU talked to various

industries, found out what they planned to invest in the

U.S. in the coming years, added it up, and told Trump that was the pledge. In other words,

Trump's major victory is simply taking credit for what was already going to happen. So what

happened?

We have a number of options.

Option one.

Trump wanted a number to get headlines and play his base again.

So the EU gave him one.

And both the EU and Trump know it's not really a commitment.

The only people who don't know it isn't real are Trump's base.
