Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

Montana and the state constitution and a ruling on a case we have been following on this channel for a while.

I actually can't remember how long, but it's been a long time.

So the courts have determined that a bunch of young people who filed suit against the state

saying that the state was violating their constitutional rights by not providing and helping to maintain and improve a clean and healthful environment.

In Montana, the state constitution, I want to say that it is Article 9, section beginning. that portion of the Constitution basically guarantees that the state and everybody in Montana

will actively work to keep the environment nice.

The kids who are no longer kids because of the length this case has been going on.

They're not all kids anymore anyway. They sued and said that because these state agencies were not taking into account

greenhouse gases when handing out fossil fuel development permits or

whatever, that they were violating the Constitution and the courts

agree.

Now, undoubtedly, the state will try to overturn this. There's a lot of money in fossil fuels and this sets a very dangerous

precedent for the state.

Constitutions, particularly the parts that grant rights,

their promises. Governments in general do not like being held to those promises.

So I would imagine that Montana is going to spend a ton of money trying to find a way to

shirk their constitutional obligations. So this story is pretty interesting. I'll have some other videos about it down below.
