Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about Hawaii again and we are going to talk about some of the management that went on.

We're going to run through the thinking that led to the

sirens not being activated. And just kind of go over that as well as the news that goes

along with this. So let's start there. The Maui Emergency Management Administrator has resigned.

There was a lot of criticism and questions that arose because a network of sirens that

exist there was not utilized. During a press conference, the administrator was asked if they regretted that decision,

if they regretted not utilizing that system, and and they said I do not.

That regardless of anything else that was probably not the correct response. So what we're going to do is

we're going to go through their thinking and talk about why they did not activate the sirens.

The emergency management team there believed that these sirens, which if you do not know, this is an extensive, a massive network of

sirens, of emergency alert sirens.

The emergency management team, they believed that the local population, that

they associated those sirens with a tsunami warning. They were concerned that if they were activated, people would seek higher ground.

In this case, that would have moved them towards the danger rather than away from it.

That, we will come back to that.

The other thing that was at play is a reliance on newer tech,

such as, you know know the other forms of emergency broadcast

direct messages to tech to text on phones the the normal stuff that people outside of areas where sirens exist

tend to be more familiar with.

Okay, so the decision that was made at that time, there's a bunch of different ways to

look at that.
