Today I am playing a show that I made recently

with Brave Little State, which is a podcast from Vermont Public.

Brave Little State is a podcast that takes questions

from listeners and then answers those questions

which is a very cool premise for a show. This time listeners picked a listener question

about guns which I was both really excited to work on and also totally dreaded because it's such

a divisive issue. But I learned a lot making this show and I was constantly surprised while I was

making this show.

A quick warning, there's talk of suicide and domestic and sexual violence in this show.

Let's see. It was like a week and a half actually before opening night of the play.

I was in chemistry class and we were all actually just like about to get out of our

seats in a couple minutes to go to homeroom for 10 minutes and over the intercom they said clear the halls.

Did it sound, did it feel different from a drill just the way it was said?

We all knew it was different immediately

because they didn't say this is a drill,

which they usually do.

So, you know, that silence that of not saying it's not a drill that was like pretty loud like we all knew

then like a minute later they say this is a lockdown everyone get into lockdown

I remember I was pushed up against a desk and I could see the door very clearly from where I was and like most of the good spots were taken at that point.
