Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about GOP representatives trying to stop Trump's midterm strategy.

A number of Republican House representatives who are in traditionally blue states are openly opposing Trump's redistricting strategy.

Republican Representative Kevin Kiley of California is introducing a bill to ban mid-decade

redistricting.

The legislation would reportedly nullify any new maps made before the 2030 census, including any from Texas.

He took an open shot at Republican Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, saying he, quote,

Needs to step up and show some leadership. From the other side of the country,

Representatives Mike Lawler and Nicole Maliatakis,

both of New York, have opposed the redistricting effort. Loller also said he was introducing legislation

to stop it. Lawler said, quote, gerrymandering is wrong and should be banned everywhere, including in New York, Texas, California, and Illinois.

I'm introducing legislation to ban it.

I mean, that sounds good and I agree.

It's just funny to hear from the Republican side of the aisle.

Why? Because in 2021, Republicans shot down a bill that, among other things, would have established independent

redistricting commissions that would have created balanced partisan representation. There's also an

interesting coincidence.

All of the Republicans I've seen so far, who are really pushing back against Trump and

Johnson's strategy, happen to be from states that are likely to redistrict if Texas does.

The redistricting very well might alter their own districts and put them out of a job.

I'm sure that's just a coincidence, though. It's worth noting that a number of Democratic

governors are openly pushing for retaliation if Republicans go through with their redistricting. Governor Newsom of California
