Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again. So today we're going to talk about Georgia, certifications, the 2024 election, and a showdown that's going to occur in the coming weeks.

Earlier this month, the Georgia State Election Board created two new rules.

The rules are designed to allow county election board members to conduct quote reasonable inquiries

before certifying election results.

The problem, reasonable, isn't defined.

So a county board member could theoretically block this

election if they believe it is reasonable to assume that Bigfoot had voted.

These misguided last-minute changes from unelected bureaucrats who have never run an election and seem to reject the advice of anyone who ever has could cause serious problems in an election that otherwise will be

secure and accurate. Oh I'm sorry that's that's not me that last bit was a quote from

Georgia's Secretary of State.

He's a Republican who's actually responsible for administering the election.

Expect to hear a lot more sound bites about this one because county election board

members the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Party of

Georgia have filed suit seeking to block the rules.

The short version of the suit is they have alleged the new rules

conflict with Georgia statutes and that the State Election Board didn't follow procedures as required

by Georgia State law.

It argues that certification is mandatory and required by Georgia law.

For those curious, the law uses the term shall certify.

The suit also asks that the court makes it clear

results must be certified by November 12th.
