Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

Senator Feinstein's vacancy and the situation that Governor Newsom now finds himself in.

So, if you have missed the news, Senator Feinstein is no longer with us.

This means that Governor Newsom of California has to make an appointment.

There are things that Newsom has said in the past about that he would

that he would appoint a black woman, he has said that he would

appoint a black woman, he has said that he wouldn't

appoint somebody currently running for the position. These are the two statements.

These statements were made a while ago and the issue that he is going to run into is that there are a lot of very well

known and pretty influential candidates that are now currently in the field

to run for that position.

And by his statement, well, he can't appoint them,

because he said that in the past.

The other issue that he's going to run into

is that when he said I would appoint a black woman.

I would be willing to bet that if you went to political insiders, people who really understood California politics, and said,

hey, give me a black woman to fill a vacant Senate seat from California.

90% of them, the first name they would say would be Barbara Lee.

She's running. There are a lot of very popular, very influential people within the Democratic Party that have

already said they're going to go after that seat.

If he appoints one of them, he risks alienating others.

If he avoids it, he puts somebody into the incumbent position for the next election.
