Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Elon and GOP senators facing reality. Before we get into the budget, don't forget about Project

Rebound's budget. There will be a link down below. So, Republican senators met with Elon Musk behind closed doors. The bits and pieces

coming out paint a pretty clear picture. The senators are telling Elon that what he's doing

won't work. Not for real. Not in the long term. Just a basic civics lesson. Congress controls the

purse strings, not the executive branch.

For any of what Elon is doing to have any long-term effect, it has to be passed through Congress.

What's going on now amounts to an executive order, except of course that executive orders have strong grounding in history and law.

The withholding of congressionally approved funds in the way that it's happening right now doesn't. What's happening

now is called impoundment, and there are limitations and lots of legal unknowns. I'm not a lawyer,

but I've read through the laws governing this.

What Elon is doing seems not in line with them.

The Trump administration wanted to challenge the way impoundment is viewed in court,

but as Senator Hawley said, quote,

this court does not look like it's warming towards the impoundment theory.

Senator Rand Paul backed up, Holly, by saying, quote,

We had a ruling this morning from the Supreme Court that seems to be pushing towards that there needs to be rescission,

that they're not going to be able to impound.

I thought the court would actually let them impound it until September 30,

until the end of the year.

They're already saying no.

It's going back to the lower court.
