Well, howdy there, internet people? It's bell again. So today, we're going to talk about DOD Trashing the Constitution

and Latter-day Saints. Hexeth has been using the Department of Defense to fight and win

nonsense culture wars instead of, you know, trying to win the actual war he was so enthusiastic about.

Well, it looks like he's going to end up losing one of his biggest culture war fights, too.

For years, the Department of Defense has allowed service members' wide discretion when it comes to

their religious preferences.

You've been able to have Jedi on your dog tags for at least a decade.

I served with a captain that had Pastafarian on hers.

This whole thing started near the end of World War I.

Originally, troops were allowed to have C, P, or H on their tags, Catholic, Protestant, or

Hebrew.

Over time, the religious options increased.

It wasn't for some woke reason.

It was twofold. One was simply that troops whose lives are at risk

should be able to practice their religious beliefs, partly because it makes many more comfortable

with situations where they'll meet their end, and therefore in theory better soldiers. And partly just because of human decency.

The other reason is that historically, people at DOD cared about the Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.
