Well, howdy there, internet people, it's bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

Democrats offering a counter to Trump's stopgap. The Democratic Party has decided to offer

their own version of a stopgap plan. I'm recording this early this morning before the announcement of the specific

details. But our rumor mill says it's supposed to be mostly limited to a continuing resolution

with protection for health care and a prohibition against recisions by Trump. Democrats think the

American people will like their plan better than Trump's plan,

and they might. But this might have also been a big mistake on the part of the Democratic Party.

In their quest to try to operate in good faith, they're submitting their own plan.

Politically, they had Trump on the record, saying, quote,

don't even bother dealing with them. He owned any potential shutdown. They would have had the

opportunity to play the clip of him being confused as to how many votes are needed to pass

something over and over again. Them introducing their own plan turns it

into a policy debate. Now instead of saying Trump didn't know how Congress worked

and said not to deal with us, they are, at least according to the rumor mill, going to have

to convince the American people,

their plan is better. Health care is an easy sell. Even Republicans are admitting they messed up

people's health care now. Just Monday, Republican Senator Susan Collins said, quote,

As the implications of the bill become better known, I think there's going to be

tremendous pressure to change the law. They know they messed up, but they also have to explain why

Trump's recisions are bad, and anything else they decide to add. Rescisions aren't an easy sell. The president of the United

States didn't know Republicans didn't have enough senators to pass things on their own,

and the Democratic Party is expecting the average American to have a firm opinion on a federal
