Bloomberg picking up Trump's slack. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is stepping up

through Bloomberg philanthropies to fund key U.S. commitments under the Paris Agreement. Trump

recently pulled the U.S. out of the

agreement. The funding will reportedly include funding for the UN Framework Convention on Climate

Change and the U.S. reporting commitments. Trump withdrew from the international agreement that

seeks to foster cooperation and hold

warming to two degrees above pre-industrial levels. The stretch goal was 1.5 degrees, but looks to be

in the rear view. This is a periodic reminder to those who have been lied to about this.

President Trump's national security posture and

interest in Greenland is based on climate change being a real threat. Pursuing national security

strategy based on the threat of climate change, while simultaneously withdrawing from efforts

to mitigate it, shows that concern for the average American is, well,

non-existent. What matters are corporate profits. So, one of the questions that came in when this

news broke is whether this is Bloomberg positioning to try again for the presidency in

2028? Well, probably. But also, that's not all of it.

Bloomberg definitely has his eyes on the White House. He has for a while, probably since he was New York's

mayor. However, he also cares about the climate and has devoted millions to the cause over the years.

He's the UN special envoy for

climate ambition and solutions. Bloomberg said, quote, more and more Americans have had their

lives torn apart by climate-fueled disasters, like the destructive fires raging in California.
