Well, howdy there internet people it's Bell again. So today we're going to talk about the Biden Harris investment in rural America.

President Biden was in Wisconsin on Wednesday to announce the largest investment in rural

electric service since FDR's new deal in 1936, when he signed the Rural Electrification Act.

The President, along with the USDA Secretary, announced $7.3 billion in funding through

the Empowering Rule America Program, which was part of the Inflation Reduction Act.

The Secretary of Agriculture had this to say, quote, under the Biden-Harriss administration,

we are supporting a more prosperous future for rural communities by

speeding up the transition to clean energy while at the same time keeping monthly

bills low and investing in the American workforce with new jobs and apprenticeships.

When you do the math and you look at the different selections made under this program, about

20% of rural Americans spread across 23 states will benefit.

There were 16 selections made and together they will create 10 gigawatts of clean electricity and will help avoid more than 40 million tons of

greenhouse gases per year or almost 3 billion tons over the expected lifetime of the project.

The projects themselves are different kinds of energy, including wind, solar, nuclear, and

hydro.

It looks like most of the megawatts will be coming from solar projects.

There's also accompanying building out of substations, battery storage, and transmission lines.

The projections say the effort will support about

16,000 construction jobs and around 4,500 permanent ones. While announcing the

selections President Biden said, quote,

just like we're making the most significant investment in rural electrification since

FDR, we're also making the most significant investment ever in affordable high-speed internet
