Well, howdy there internet people, Lidsboo again. So today we are going to talk about

maps and Alabama and surprises and where it goes from here. So if you haven't been following

this whole chain of events, Alabama produced a new

redistricting map.

Federal judges, like yeah, no, that doesn't work.

That's in violation of the the Voting Rights

Act. Alabama took it to the Supreme Court believing that the new Supreme Court was

going to side with them.

Surprise they didn't.

So the map goes back.

They had to redraw it.

They had pretty specific instructions,

which was basically create another district

that was majority black or something really close to it.

The map that Alabama produced did not really seem to comply with the requirements.

So it went back to federal court, went back before a panel of judges.

The expectation, I think, of those people behind the map was that it was going to be sent

back to them again.

And they'd run out of time and they'd have to use either this map or an

older map in the next election. When we talked about it last time I said there was
