Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

three United States senators and a law that is more than 150 years old.

So from 1873 and why these three senators

are going to try to get rid of it.

They're going to try to get rid of it. They're going to try to repeal it. We will talk about

the general idea. We'll talk about what most the coverage is probably going to focus on.

And then we're going to talk about

something that I think may get left out of the coverage that might actually be

the more important part. Okay so what law are we talking about? The 1873 Comstock Act. Short version,

this came about when there was a crusade to make the United States free of

vice and it prohibited mailing a whole bunch of things, but of importance to this conversation,

stuff related to reproductive rights. Now over the last century and a half the

courts have narrowed this law a whole lot and realistically for a long time everybody just kind of ignored

it but then row was overturned you know law while it came back into effect. These

senators are trying to avoid that situation happening on a national

level. Now most of the conversation will probably focus on abortion because it does say that it bans any article that is used for quote procuring an abortion.

And I would imagine that given the political climate that's what the coverage is going to

focus on. However, there's another part that is going to impact way more people and should probably be more of a concern

because if they start enforcing this they're going to enforce all of it.

It would ban mailing, quote, any article or thing designed or intended for the prevention of conception.
