Okay, my friend.

I recently got back from a ski trip, Intelli Ride, Colorado.

And skiing isn't my thing. I certainly didn't grow up doing it, but my husband loves it and so every so often we go and for him it's like pure joy and for me it's also joy, of course, I'm far more of a beginner.

I'm scared of hurting myself.

It's just not like a medium of sport

that I'm used to.

It has its own kind of, like, there are many nuances to skiing that the skiing community just

know about and I always feel like a bit of an outsider but hey that's okay why am I

talking about this today? Well a couple of things. As we were

there because it's been a little while since we've been skiing I always feel like I'm brand new, and I am pretty new, but I always

feel like each day is my very first day doing it.

And of course I make mistakes, I fall over, I'm nervous, I stop, hey there are tears sometimes,

nothing wrong with a few tears, my friends.

And I'm very open about it, so if I'm awkward getting on the ski lift or if I've stopped in the middle of like a slope and

anyone is like asking me you're okay or I'm like I'm brand new and I think to myself, why aren't we all willing to say that we're new at something?

What's wrong with having this identity of being a learner. As I say it again and again, of course you meet different people on the slopes. I have to say, skiing is really nice in this way. You don't have your phone, you kind of connect with different people, you have a

loan time on the slopes, it's really cool and different in that way, but when I do

connect with people I'm very open about being brand new, not knowing what I'm

doing, and it's so surprising how many people tell me the same thing.

They're like, gosh, I'm new too, or I'm just in ski school, and this is like the first or second time

I've ever been out here. And I think, why aren't we more like this in life?
