Hi everybody. Thank you for listening to the women's dating and confidence podcast. Today is the 40th episode.

0:18.6

And I always create an episode about lessons that I've learned from one of my

0:23.8

teachers or mentors every 10 episodes so I'm the 10th, the 20th, 30th, and now the 40th.

0:30.4

And today is a special episode because I decided to do it about my best friend, Julia.

0:37.3

So usually I would do it about a teacher or like an author

0:41.8

or something like that, but I feel like sometimes the best lessons that we learn are from our friends

0:48.4

and our family and people that just happen to be in our lives that aren't famous authors or something like that. So I wanted to

0:57.7

share some things that I've learned from her that I don't think she really notices that she taught me.

1:03.9

So first of all, Julia and I have been best friends since we were 14 and our story of friendship is kind of funny because when I first met her,

1:13.7

I thought she was really freaking annoying. So we were in class together and I just did not want to

1:22.2

talk to her and every time she came up to talk to me, I was like, oh my God, this again. And somehow she always,

1:31.2

like she was in the same friend group as me. So we were always in the same place. And I was just

1:38.0

really not fond of her, to be honest. And then one day, she said a really funny joke and I burst out laughing. And then from

1:50.2

that day forward, we were best friends. Basically, I kind of had to win her friendship at that point

1:56.2

because she moved on and made other friends when I was ignoring her, not talking to her.

2:01.9

But we became best friends really quickly.

2:05.2

And so actually the first lesson that I learned from her is that people's judgments of us are not always correct.

2:12.2

Because I had a judgment about her that turned out to not be correct at all.

2:20.1

And she's literally my favorite person on the whole entire planet. And I at first didn't think so. I thought she was annoying or I thought

2:28.2

I didn't like her at all. But literally, she never annoys me. And we've been friends for like eight or nine

2:34.0

years.

2:35.1

So sometimes we take people's judgments really personally and we think that they might be right
