0:31.4	to talk about some things that I learned while touring
0:34.6	through Charles Dowdings Garden. He, for those of you who don't know, is kind of the
0:39.3	godfather of the modern no dig gardening movement
0:42.8	whereas the name suggests you are not really disrupting your soil
0:46.6	at all.
0:47.6	You never dig into it, you never disrupt it,
0:50.9	you just top dress, in his case, with about two inches of compost once per year, and from
0:57.4	there you have incredible, incredible yields.
1:01.3	So some of you listening might be thinking that doesn't seem possible. It seems like that's too simple and that's actually what I thought but Charles being the gardener that he is has been conducting an eight-year ongoing experiment of a dig
1:15.7	versus no-dig bed.
1:17.2	So he has one bed that he digs up every year and re-amends, and he has another bed that he simply
1:22.1	does a top dress of compost on.
1:24.0	Now he's measured the harvested yield and he plants the exact same things.
1:29.0	Everything else is the same in these two beds except for that bed prep.
1:33.6	For years he's been tracking the harvest.
