Summary

#79. Andy sits down with Samuli & Timo in Saint Lucia to talk about Leopard's record-breaking run in this year's ARC. Nearly 3,000 miles in just over 8 days! While the boat was long gone, Samuli and Timo were still on island with their families and graciously chatted with Andy at Elena's Cafe in Rodney Bay Marina for an in-person chat. They talk about sailing culture in Finland, Samuli's pro racing career, Timo's adventures in the mountains and of course what it's like to sail a 100-foot maxi at 30+ knots offshore.

Lesti, and I'm sure I'm butchering his name. He's the Finnish project manager for the

yacht leopard. They broke the arc record by over two days this year. The boat wasn't

0:56.3

even here when we got here. They had come and gone that quickly, but Samuli was still here

1:00.8

and one of the mate on the boat, Timo, was also on this podcast as well. So I sat down with them

at Elena's cafe the other day. It's a little bit of background noise, cafe noise. It's kind of ambient.

1:12.3

It's not a big deal. And Samuli talked right into the mic, so his voice is really clear. But apologies for the background noise. There's a little bit of a breeze in there, too. But hey, we're on a tropical island in a cafe. We did our best. So big thanks to the guys from leopard by Finland. If you don't know, leopard is the former I-Cap leopard. It's a hundred-foot

maxi. They cross the Atlantic. So, big thanks to the guys from Leopard by Finland. If you don't know, Leopard is the former I-CAP leopard.
