Welcome to our Rosary meditation.

Lent is not just about you.

You have a mission to join Jesus in the battle against Satan to win souls. So let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen.

And let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

For 40 days at the beginning of his mission,

Satan tempts Jesus to turn away from the will of God the Father.

Jesus takes up the battle with the two weapons of prayer and sacrifice.

The Catechism says that,

By the solemn 40 days of Lent, The church unites herself each year to the event of Jesus in the desert.

Every Lent we are called to join Jesus in this battle against spiritual evils armed

with the weapons of prayer and sacrifice.

All the effort of Satan is to turn us away from God.

That is what sin is, to turn away from God.

Prayer is the most immediate way of turning toward God and encountering Him.

Penance or fasting and sacrifice strengthen us to resist this turning away from God in sin and to turn toward God in love.

So Lent is a one-two punch in imitation of Jesus in turning toward God in a greater way by

prayer and strengthening us to resist the lure of temptation by fasting and sacrifice,

and by these weapons we join the redemptive mission of Jesus to Save Souls.
