Summary

Growing up in the “City of Lakes,” Leena loved to swim, though it was uncommon for girls in India. Her daughter Bhakti loved swimming so much that she made a goal to swim in all five oceans, and the seven seas! Does she do it? Dive in to find out! Bakhty's mother, Lena Sharma, love to swim.

That might not sound so unusual to you,

It was even more unusual for girls to be swimmers.

Girls were expected to dress modestly and often swam in their clothes rather than in

Lena swam throughout college and trained with great coaches.

Her family thought it was a strange hobby, but Lena didn't care and once she had kids she hoped they would inherit her love of the water. When Bhakhi was two years old, Lena put her right into the deep end of a swimming pool and helped her learn to float.
