Lauren Cashio was thrilled. She had just been picked for a very selective design program and couldn't wait to get started. She loved taking photographs, experimenting with different film, and

drawing architectural designs. She was constantly amazed by the way two people could look at the same image and see something completely different.

At the same time, Lauren had promised her family that she would study law because it was what they called practical.

When Lauren went to her guidance counselor at the university to tell her about getting into the design program, the counselor said,
