Ladies and gentlemen, amid all the sound and fury, and from the other side, elation about this week's election.

One word seems to have been missing from the dozens of analyses.

I'll share that word with you in a moment.

It's in wide use and everyday conversation.

And its prominence now marks the second time in three elections that the Democratic Party has made the same mistake.

In 2008 and 2012, the party in the country made history with the election of America's first black president.

You remember that, right?

Any serious student of American history knows that much of this country's culture is based on the pendulum.

Gambling used to be forbidden. Now it's everywhere. Same with cannabis. Jokes about Puerto Ricans used to be tolerated. Now they're not.

Making history had a predictable backlash. The Democratic Party in 2016 decided to counter

that backlash by trying to make history again with the first female presidential nominee.

She lost to a carnival barker.

This year, the same party made the same bet against the pendulum,

and the same guy, now a convicted felon.

Same result.

What we learned in short is that there's one word that's verboten in many Americans' minds about their chief executive.

I'm a woman, W-O-M-A-N, I say it again, because I'm a woman.

W.O. in my head.

And that's all.
