Hip, hip, array, indeed. Americans could face a 70% hike in their electricity bills by 2030.

Unless action is taken to boost generation and transmission capacity,

that is needed to satisfy an AI-driven surge in demand from data centers.

That's a warning in a report from the Jack Kemp Foundation in D.C.

It says billions need to be invested in extra grid capacity to keep pace with the growth in

consumption by data centers. This echoes warnings from Bain in company. Remember Bain?

It was the bane of Mitt Romney's existence.

That forecast energy use could outstrip supply in just a couple of years,

advised U.S. utility operators to boost their annual energy generation by up to 26% in four years.

Gartner, estimated data center energy demand, could balloon 160% over the next two years.

That's a balloon big enough for the Macy's Parade.

A coalition of Canada's major news outlets is suing OpenAI, the maker of artificial intelligence chatbot, chat GPT, alleging the company is illegally using news articles to train its software.

Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, CBC have all joined the suit, first of its kind in the country.

Of course, the country is Canada.

Open AI says its models are trained on publicly available data, which means you publish

it, we can steal it.
