On a spring day in 2017, Corporal Vincent Gabriel Lamar, a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, received new marching orders.

He grabbed the keys to a military truck and set out to do what he loved most. Help a community in need.

I love my job. Every time I have a mission, I am proud to be able to accomplish it.

I was in support of relief efforts. Vincent, an experienced military driver who served in Afghanistan, was tasked with transporting materials and soldiers to the area.

I am a 60-meter-old. I am one of the smallest of my units.

But I know very well how to conduct military vehicles, even in difficult conditions.

Since my mission in Afghanistan, I have been very experienced as a chauffeur.

As he settled at the wheel of his truck and prepared to head out, Vincent started feeling nervous.

He knew he was about to meet people from a base where he had worked at the beginning of his career.

And the soldiers from his former base knew him under a different identity as a woman.

I am a child myself. And I am a child. Vincent is my true identity.
