And the I'm so old that when I worked in the United States Senate,

Mitch McConnell was one of the reasonable Republicans of the United States Senate.

I mean a really good guy. When I first was dealing with these

people and I'd be on the floor of the United States Senate, what I was always interested in

and encountering these people is, is there a human being there? And I'm telling you, there isn't a human being and I'm telling you there isn't a human being there in over 80% of them and when I was there around 90% of them there was no human being

80 to 90% of the senators have no human they're not human. They are zombies. For most of them it would be a

trick question to say to them what would you not do to get reelected?

I would do anything to get reelected. I would do anything to get reelected.

Exactly.

Right.

So Mitch McConnell, who I had very little dealings with,

looked to me to be the normal Bob Dole-style Republican of that era.

It's very unlikely that Mitch McConnell is a human being has changed.

My sense of it is, there was never really anything there.

He was going to do whatever it took to hold on to this office and that's it.

Lawrence O'Donnell is one of the best political broadcasters in all of TV for many

reasons but a big part of it is this. He's one of the few

political broadcasters who actually worked inside the system. Most the hosts on the

cable networks have never actually been an elected official or worked for an elected

official in DC. Lawrence was a key aid to New York Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan for

six years which took him inside the process and inside the rooms and

allows him to understand the reality of it all better than most people do.
