Laura Bible and Ashley Freeman were teenagers from Oklahoma.

They went to elementary school together.

And although they went to different high schools,

they remained close friends.

On December 30th, 1999, they were at Ashley's house in the town of Welch.

A fire broke out in the home, and when it was extinguished, Ashley's parents were found dead.

But Laura and Ashley were never seen again.

and no resolutions.

Yet they still have to find a way to continue.

Many of them still have children or parents who need their attention. They can't

often devote as much time to their loved ones disappearance as they'd like. Moreover, they have to

find a way to rise from the ashes, to find any kind of personal joy in their lives again.

It's an often overlooked part of the damage done by disappearances.

In Laura Bible and Ashley Freeman's cases, this is also true, but both

figuratively and literally. Figuratively, because you will hear from Laura's mother who has had to

reassemble her life after the disappearance, working hard to be a mother to her

other child while keeping Laura's name in the news. She has had to rise from the ashes to continue forward the last

18 years. But also literally because too many people in the Welch area continue to

believe that Laura and Ashley died in that fire, that they themselves became ashes.

Well, today, Unfound hopes to resurrect this case by showing that these two young women escaped the fire and were taken away by its initiators.
