Summary

TW – Child Murder.

Lauren Dickason and her husband Graham tried desperately for years to have children. The endured 17 rounds of IVF and were eventually blessed with three beautiful daughters – Liane, and twins Maya and Karla. The South African couple were very successful in their careers – Lauren was a doctor and Graham was a surgeon.

In 2021, they decided to move their young family to New Zealand in the hope of living a safe and peaceful life.

The family had only been in their new home for a few weeks, when Lauren seemingly snapped. One night in September 2021 when Graham was out with colleagues, Lauren told her three daughters that they were going to make necklaces. She tied cable ties around their necks, and when that did not work to kill them, she smothered them in their beds.

Lauren’s case has just gone to trial in New Zealand. Right before this episode was released, she was found guilty of the murder of her three children. She is yet to be sentenced.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the case of Lauren Dickason – a mother who murdered her three daughters in their beds.

Now she's having a silent protest, I suppose. She'll meow later when I don't want her to.

0:40.8

So yeah, that distracted me. We're back. We're here. It's hot out. I've heartburned. We're thriving.

How is your murder mystery party? I purposely didn't ask you about it. So we have a genuine

0:54.7

conversation about it. It was really fun. It was such a good weekend. How it actually worked

1:01.3

was so like we obviously buy the murder mystery pack type thing and then it gives you like everyone

1:05.7

gets this little script that you've got to read in different sections for your character.

1:10.3

But then the way which I never really thought about it but the way that the murderer is kind of

1:15.1

decided or picked is it's like literally random out of a hat. So when you get your script it's like

1:20.6

if you are the murderer read this, if you are not the murderer, I read this. So it was clever.

1:25.2

It was really, really, really good fun. Everyone really got into the spirit. Some of the costumes

1:29.2

were amazing. It was really, really, really good. Did you bring both stethoscopes?

1:33.7

Yes, I had my double stethoscopes, my tongue depresses. Yeah, it was amazing. Like one girl, her name

1:41.3

was Misty Vision. So she was like a psychic with a crystal ball and what else is there? It was a

1:46.7

maid. I can trust her to remember all the outfits. It was really, really, really fun. I was like,

1:50.0

if you're looking for something different to do, absolutely, I would recommend getting something

1:53.3

similar. How many people, like what's the minimum? I don't know if there is a minimum, but I feel

1:59.0

like probably you could do it with four people. I think we had 12 or 13, but I feel like you could

2:05.0

definitely do it with less. It was just obviously more fun with more because then you have less chance
