Summary

An estimated 850,000 adults in the United States are cyberstalked each year.

Ina and David Steiner run a blog called ECommerceBytes. Their website is a resource for sellers on a number of platforms, from Etsy to Amazon. In 2019, Ina wrote some pieces regarding eBay and the exorbitant salaries of their executives. These articles got the couple onto the radar of senior executives at the company. A bloodied pigs head face mask and a funeral wreath were among the terrifying objects sent to Ina and David. There is currently a lawsuit ongoing between the Steiners and the people involved in the cyberstalking incidents.

Teenager Nate Bronstein was struggling with not being able to attend school during the pandemic in 2021. He changed to the prestigious Latin School in Illinois, mainly because they were offering face-to-face classes. When he started at the new school, the other students were not quick to help Nate to fit in. Nate was bullied relentlessly on social media and was told to kill himself. In January 2022, Nate hanged himself from the shower in his home.

In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss the cyberstalking of Ina and David Steiner, as well as the cyberbullying that resulted in the suicide of Nate Bronstein.

Just to like clarify again, I just want everyone to be clear, this won't change the podcast.

0:54.2

We'll still be exactly the same. The page you want is just a little bit different than kind of a chat

0:57.7

about some crimes that have happened in the week. Very casual, very laid back, whereas this is

1:03.3

kind of more of a story that we do each week, essentially. We tell the story every week.

1:09.6

We're only a few weeks in, so it is kind of exciting. It's exciting for us too because

1:14.4

every episode is a kind of structured around cases that there is a lot of information on because

1:20.8

we need to be able to speak about it for an hour. Whereas on Patreon, we can just, if there's

1:25.2

something that only has a little bit of information, we can just chat about it quickly, so it's

1:29.0

pretty little. It's nice to be able to talk about other stuff, chat time. So if you want to hear

1:33.7

us chat, there's a timestamp in the episode description. But I don't have that much to chat about.

1:40.1

I was trying to think, and I was like, my life's so boring lately. Or it's just like depressing,

1:46.1

and I want to breathe everyone down. We are doing a double recording session today because I'm

1:52.4

going away next weekend with my book club friends. So that's one little exciting thing. We are

1:58.0

doing one night. We're doing a murder mystery night, which I've never ever done before.

2:01.2

Like a party. Yeah, so everyone's got a character. I'm a doctor, so I have to, I've ordered a

2:05.9

stethoscope or like, sheen or wish or something. That's so cool. I have to find a white coat somewhere,
