Summary

If it's Friday it means Jonah Booker on the Bucknuts Morning 5. JBook and Dave Biddle discuss the latest on the No. 1 prospect in the country in the 2024 class, Dylan Raiola. How confident are we that he will be a Buckeye? When might he make the call?

Also, our Patrick Murphy did a story for the site on Thursday listing the 10 Ohio State players who helped themselves the most this spring. We talk about the list and add a couple more names to the group.

We also take questions from viewers during our live broadcast and more.

All of that and more is coming your way on the Friday 5ish.

Good morning, Buckknutters. Welcome to the Buckknut.

It's morning five here on Friday, April 22, 2022. I am Dave Biddle. I'm very happy joined by Jonah Booker for his usual Friday visit.

0:37.0

A lot to get into as usual, J Book. Let's start with Dylan Raola, the number one overall player in the country in the 2024 class.

0:47.0

Obviously quarterback from your neck of the woods. They're in Arizona.

0:51.0

What's the latest that you're hearing? And if you're hearing he's going to be a buck, I when do you think you might make the call?

0:59.0

Yeah, for right now, it sounds like a hostage sitting pretty with this recruitment.

1:04.0

I know a lot of people were pretty much on commit watch when he was on campus.

1:09.0

The tell tell sign day that I'll always say is follow their actions, not necessarily their words.

1:14.0

And with you know, canceling his visit to USC, who was considered Ohio State's main rival when it comes to this recruitment tells me all I need to know.

1:24.0

Just from talking to people who who's very familiar with the recruitment, it sounds like it's just a matter of when, not if he's going to be a buck guy.

1:34.0

I know a lot of people believe that there's a big 707 tournament that's coming up here in Arizona and he's been asked to quarterback some of those four to team.

1:45.0

So people have been saying that he's going to be recruiting for Ohio State during that particular event.

1:52.0

So that right there kind of just tells you where things stand right now. And to me, what I were some of the things that I've been hearing is just the overall development that he will receive at Ohio State trumps anything that he's going to get elsewhere.

2:09.0

Another caveat that I've been hearing is the family is not very big on Pac-12 football. They just think that him playing at Ohio State gives him the opportunity to play on the big stage, play under the bright lights.

2:23.0

Whereas in the Pac-12 defense support is severely lacking, they don't want him playing in front of an empty half empty stadiums.

2:31.0

They really want to have him showcase his talent on the big stage and no better quarterback developer than Ryan Day, who's going to be able to get him there.

2:41.0

I know a lot of people look at Lincoln Riley as someone who has done really well at the quarterback position.

2:47.0

But one thing you have to keep in mind when it comes to Lincoln Riley, his success has come from transfers.

2:53.0

He has yet to really develop a quarterback who has come into his program from start to finish.

3:01.0

You look at Spencer, rather they were banking that he was going to be the guy who that Lincoln Riley was going to develop.

3:08.0

And he transferred out Caleb Williams is probably going to be the first one that he actually has the opportunity to develop.
