Good morning, Bucknotters. Welcome to the Bucknotts.com.

0:30.0

You're on Thursday, April 21st, 2022. I am Dave Bittel. I am joined by the Dean of Ohio State Football Recruiting Bill Curley.

0:37.0

I am joined by Mark Porter, the man behind Scouting Ohio. There's a lot of great stuff for Bucknotts as well.

0:44.0

You guys have any questions? Shoot him our way. Mark, I want to start with you, my man.

0:48.0

You've done a nice, we're going, most of the show is going to be about Ohio State Recruiting today,

0:52.0

but you did a really nice breakdown, a two-part breakdown for the site. Jim Knowles is new defense.

0:57.0

Give us the Cliff Notes version of your excellent breakdown of Jim Knowles' defense. What are you seeing so far from this new look defense?

1:03.0

Yeah, I think we went beyond the Cliff Notes, because I think that's what the Bucknotters have been getting for the past couple of months,

1:09.0

is just Cliff Notes from what he had done in the past. We hadn't seen it really in action with the Buck Eyes, but what we did is we took a look at that three safety look.

1:33.0

Whatever you're looking at pre-stab is not what you're going to get post-stab. The safeties are moving around.

1:38.0

They're showing you a vanilla cover, too, and it's rolling to cover three.

1:42.0

So the complexities there were nice to see, even though it was supposed to be a vanilla package in the spring game.

1:47.0

We work at a show a lot or a game plan. And then the other thing we showed is how the safeties get stressed out when they come up on an island in the alley.

1:55.0

That's a lot of ground for them to cover, trying to wrangle down in the lead athlete in the open field as one of the harder things to do in sports.

2:02.0

You'd rather have him in a confined area in a phone box tackle on them.

2:06.0

So as we saw safeties come down in the box, you saw the one-on-one battles.

2:10.0

That's something I think we could foreshadow this season. You're going to see a lot of safeties coming down and making some open field tackles.

2:16.0

Or, conversely, not making with tackle.
