And as always, I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson here on the Maroon Friday edition of the yard.

It is the beginning of high school football in Mississippi for public schools.

Private schools have already got cranked up.

Interesting.

Our buddy Chris Parsons already played two games for Ravenwood High School. They dropped

the first one. They win last night over Battleground Academy. The Raptor defense kind of

dominated, created seven turnovers. Chris, 9 of 11 for 93 yards, ran for 54 more in a pair of touchdowns, and a 56 to 3 win.

He said, but Steve, 9 of 11, why would you ever throw it when you can run it as well as they did?

They ran for, what, 260 yards and had the short field most of the night.

But around the high school ranks, there's going to be, uh, probably

be a little rust. You know, it's the first game for many people at the jamborees last week. And you

can only tell so much from the jamborees. But, uh, here's the deal, man. Congratulations to everybody

out there. It's getting ready to play. A lot of work has gone on to these moments, so take advantage of them.

Be excited about it.

One of the things, and I remember this from the 9-11 documentary they ran on ESPN years ago.

It was Bill Curry that said he was on his way to cover a game.

I want to say at Auburn.

He was somewhere in rural Alabama.

And they wondered about playing the game.

He goes, you think they'll play the game.
