Summary
I grew up moving around a great deal, but mostly in Perth, Western Australia. I speak five languages, mostly from all that moving around, and love talking about linguistics (unfortunately few others do). Went to college and law school in New York City, where I started working as a journalist while in law school, then went to Afghanistan as a war correspondent before starting work with the state department as an anti-human trafficking attorney. Spent five years in that field before starting Lightning Fruit, because I believed I couldn't change the world the way I wanted to without the power & influence that running my own business could give me. Lightning Fruit is a mission-driven agency because that's who I am, but it's a for-profit business because I believe social change requires being part of the economic system, and because I want to use that profit for even bigger things. Outside of work, I love reading sci-fi/fantasy, rock climbing (especially trad), snowboarding (especially backcountry), generally being in the wilderness, and me & my partner's extremely cute mutt Seneca.
