The Lakers played a really good game on Sunday in Game 1 of the Western Conference playoffs in Memphis, against a Grizzlies squad that lost six games all year in the regular season. But the game wasn't in the bag until a killer fourth quarter that the Lakers dominated, particularly down the stretch. (Lakers fans know closing hasn't necessarily been the team's strength...) Leading the charge? Not LeBron James and Anthony Davis (both of whom played well, overall.) Instead, it was Austin Reaves on the ball, running point. Rui Hachimura hitting shot after shot. D'Angelo Russell making big plays. They pushed the Lakers through to the win, taking advantage of an hand injury to Memphis star Ja Morant that has the potential to keep him out of Game 2. It's a massive win for the Lakers, who gain an unexpected advantage out of the gate. It was also a big night for Davis, who was dominant early on both ends, but then suffered a shoulder injury right before the half. He clearly was in pain, and was seen on the broadcast saying he couldn't move and lift his arm. Not good. Halftime speculation was rampant, and people were ready for him to be declared done for the day. Instead, he opened the third, which provided a huge lift for the team. So in a "prove it" series, Davis definitely did just that in Game 1. And a nice game for Darvin Ham, as well!
