This is Rumble's trip by Marica Heilman, and this is the sound of Vermont Quick Loop.

Vermont Quick Loop is a stay-in-your-car, oil change place and car wash in Southbury on Route 14 between Clark's Collision Center and the Harley-Davidson place. All right. I'm going to get some information down for you. You guys want a water, seltzer, any snacks or anything? Cool, sounds good. Let me grab you. It's ladies' day, so we will, we offer all the ladies of flour when they come in. I'll go grab you one real quick. You want the red one? You want to go with this one? There we go guys.

No problem at all. Somebody would be right over to start your oil change, though, okay?

I have loved Vermont Quicklub for a very long time because they're fast and they're nice and they

offer me coffee. Once, while I was waiting for them to finish another car, a young man came out to

offer me some coffee or seltzer and I said, no, but I think I might have a slow oil leak.

In under a minute, there were four technicians gathered around my car and one under my car assuring me that they were on it, which they were.

But this winter, in the depths of seasonal depression, I went in for an oil

change, and Michael, who works the register, told me it was Lady's Day, and he handed me a

red carnation. It was weird and embarrassing. It was also disarming and kind, and I got a free car wash.

I asked Craig, the manager, if I could hang around for a few hours and see how the operation

works.

Ladies' Day was already a staple when I started here.

And I ran with it. I grabbed that ball and ran with it.

How does it work? Like what happens? Yeah. So when somebody pulls up, if it happens to be a lady, we let them know immediately, hey, you're in luck, it's Wednesday. Wednesday's our ladies' day, and that's our, you know, ladies' appreciation day. You're going to get a free car wash. You're going to get a free flower as just a thank you for all that you do.

Our aim is to make you feel special and comfortable coming into a shop.

Kind of like a surprise, please feel comfortable.

You know, we love you, we appreciate you, let us show this, you know.

And we have had suggestions to have like a guy's day or a dude's day.
