We were driving around Essex County up by the Canadian border.

Sharon Porter is a nurse with the Orleans-Exsix VNA and hospice, which is one of eight non-profit agencies that provide care to Vermonters in their homes.

Sharon drives a Ford F-150 with a backseat that is stuffed with about 18 duffel bags of medical supplies.

On most days, she drives around 100 miles, but on a lot of days, she travels a lot more,

and sometimes in the middle of the night.

I knew of home health and hospice people, because I met some of them after my father came home from the hospital.
