James Acaster here, comedian and music fan, and in 2017, I had a breakdown.

I dealt with that breakdown by buying as much music

from 2016 as I possibly could. As a result, I now own over 600 albums that came out in 2016

and I'm convinced it's the greatest year for music of all time. But it's not enough me being

convinced. I also want to convince each and every single one of you, plus a guest

every single week. I'm going to send them an album in advance. We're going to come on the podcast

and we're going to talk about that album. This week, my guest is Kwame Asante, and we're going

to talk about the album, A Self-Help Tragedy by Doomsday Student.

When you were born, our body started over. DDo student.

Doomsday student are a noise rock band from Rhode Island.

To me, this is noise rock that even trolls people who like noise rock.

This is screechy, it's repetitive, heavy sound they've chosen is the most unpleasant sound they could have chosen.

I'm fully aware this is not for everybody. There's some of you who have probably

listened to this album in advance before listening to this episode and I've probably

listening to it because you're angry and you want to hear someone, probably my guest, completely trash it.

But I do love this album.

She was a scared of woman, but now she's a photograph.

I love how difficult it is.

I think what they're doing is so antagonistic that I can only respect it.
