That's our Independence Day, 1776, and July 4th is when we celebrate

the freedom that we have in this country. So, guys, in the Ryan Koeberger case, there's been

so many legal things going on. The defense is trying to get so many different documents,

and we know that when they are trying to get documents from the prosecution,

that's called discovery material.

And the prosecution is required to give all of the evidence to the defense.

And that includes exculpatory and inculpatory evidence.

Two big words I learned in criminal justice.

Exculpatory and inculpatory evidence.

And they must turn it over before the start of the trial.

There is where there's a lot of gray area. The defense, of course, is screaming for all of the evidence immediately, but guess what?

They're not entitled to it immediately. It says in the Idaho criminal procedure law that the prosecution must turn over

all discovery material before the start of the trial, which in this case is October 2nd.

So even though everyone's been yelling about, oh, this is unfair, that's unfair, it's not unfair.

It's the strategy also that the prosecution uses. Let's not forget, the prosecution has to prove this case beyond

a reasonable doubt. And what the defense's goal is, is to poke holes in their case through

creating doubt.
