Welcome to the Jesus Image podcast.

What a privilege it is to be part of something that God is doing in the earth.

There will come a day that you will look back and say, I was there

when God built this house. What an extraordinary

privilege this is, indeed. God is calling his church to know him. There's a higher place in

knowing Christ. It's one thing to know about him.

It's another thing to study him within the scriptures.

That's another thing to feast upon him in communion.

But the Lord is inviting us to know him in his scars and in his wounds a

curriculum from Jesus.

I am by calling and by trade a teacher.

And so I'm always deeply interested in curriculum.

And so often I've looked at people

and I've been so disappointed at times.

And often the teacher within me, I want to run to them and shake them awake and say,

wake up and see what God is doing in your midst.

And often the Lord says, leave them alone.

I have a plan. I have a curriculum. The human heart is restless.

Augustine, the great Augustine of Hippo, the great African theologian, yes, African, May I just say this as somebody from Africa,

I need to just acknowledge that. Whenever I travel in Italy and the Italians, you know, they claim everyone. And they claim Augustine and they paint him as an Italian man. And I have to go

every single time and say, stop, stop, is from Africa,

dark-skinned African leader in the early church.
