Is that a spooky voice? I'm not really sure. I do what I can for you guys here on the podcast. Today we're talking about a kitchen herb garden. So this question comes

from Hannah and she says, I've tried doing a kitchen herb garden something basic and I quote totally failed end quote

How do I get started with something like this?

And this is a great question because a lot of people live in apartments,

a lot of people live in condos,

they don't have a lot of space,

and they do like to cook,

and they like basil, they like chives,

etc, but they just really don't know what they're doing when it comes to growing them.

And so in this episode we're just going to talk for a little bit about some of the basics that you would want to know

when you're starting a kitchen herb garden.

And so there's really only a few things that you have to keep in mind.

And the first, of course, is going to be light.

Where is your light coming from and how much of it do you get? And so in a perfect world you're going to be

placing your kitchen herb garden on a south facing window. That's because the sun rises in the east and sets in the west. And so if you're on a south-facing window, you're going to get maximal sun exposure. If you don't have that, well, try to figure out how many hours of sun exposure your kitchen gets or somewhere in your house where you can grow a kitchen herb garden

and just choose the spot that has the most light possible.

Ideally, over six hours of sunlight a day.

Otherwise, you're going to just have slower performance on some of these plants.

Things like basil are, they're sun-hungry plants. If you can give them all the light in the world, they will eat
