You come to this country with 700 bucks in your pocket. I came here in 1999 from South Africa, sold everything, bought a ticket, had 700 bucks left. Fast forward, you sell the company for, I think it was nine figures, correct? I gotta be careful how I say it. It was the moment that we did the deal. We ended up flying to Vegas and they say, okay, the wire will hit your bank account, shortening the bank account, see when that number is going to hit.

And then it hit in the kilo shots.

Meet Kurt Lenington, a former LA Fitness Executive who built one of the fastest growing roofing

companies in America, linear roofing, and now inspires others as a driven entrepreneur,

investor, and motivational speaker. We had gotten to about 32 million with me part-time. I did LA Fitness and started the roofing company for the first four years. I'd worked during the day, then I'd go door knocking. You had zero experience? Zero. I sat with my wife and said, look, I think our life improves if I leave. Was it like a rock bottom moment?

I crashed my car.

I actually couldn't see. I crawled out of my car. I'm in the gutters screaming. Ambulance takes me in the hospital. I'm like, God, if you could save me, I won't do drugs again. I haven't done any of those drugs ever again going back 30 years. What is the hardest lesson you've had to learn in business?

A lot of people run around and they say, oh, I never get lucky, it's always hard, it's always this, but maybe you're just not swinging enough. I've actually always said you have to think small to become big. I told people it's not about the money, but I think what I've realized is it is about the money. It allows you to create opportunity to put kids in better

schools and coaching and those kind of things. What advice would you give to people who are trying

Take us way back. Where does the story of Kurt Lenington begin in South Africa? And how do you go from humble beginnings to ending up in California where the journey started? Yeah. So I could probably

speak for about an hour just in the upbringing department. But I came here in 1999 from South Africa on a visitor's visa and never went back.
