I'm John Bachelors with my colleague Gregory Coppley Defense and Foreign Affairs.

This is a strange story.

Gregory tells me that Sir Kirste Armour, the new Prime Minister,

who is overwhelmingly powerful in the House of Commons with more than 400 seats.

Remember, he passes what he wants to pass.

The opposition is merely ceremonial.

It can stand up and do a lot of shouting

on Prime Minister's questions, but he can't stop anything.

And therefore, if the Prime Minister wants something,

it might very well happen.

And what I understand right now is that the Prime Minister

resents or decries the House of Lords representing

tradition, history, ceremony, color, and after all, where would punch be without the House of Lords?

It would have been, never would have been successful.

Or I Spy, or any of the great satyrical magazines of the last several hundred years.

Gregory, I don't understand why the House of Lord should be of interest to

secure st armor.

He's got a lot to do on already with reviving the economy, with explaining why he's going to raise the tax base, and now with rioting.

Why the Lords?

Well, this is just part of his agenda which was revealed in the King's speech from the throne at the opening of this parliamentary session where he outlined his programme, but it follows particularly the government of Tony Blair, who was also

Labour Party 1997 to 2007, where they declared war on the House of Lords.

They want to remove the possibility of a House of Review of Legislation
