The King Charles Report and my favorite headline of King Charles of the Week is, Why King Charles

is Turning Down the Temperature on the Buckingham Palace Pool.

I read this as the Times reporting, Charles didn't just come up with an economical king.

He's been this way his whole life.

Apparently he's a pest when it comes to turning the lights out in the palace.

This is Buckingham Palace.

He also has said to keep a room at his house so cold that a reception there is a challenge.

I had no idea that we're talking about someone.

We've all met dads who tell you to turn the lights out.

We don't have stock and name the electric company.

Did you know this about Charles?

He worries about lights left on in palace rooms.

Well, Queen Elizabeth was much the same and certainly Prince Philip, the Queen's husband,

was very much of this mold.

So too was Queen Victoria.

The Buckingham Palace was run on extremely frugal lines during Queen Victoria's reign.

It took a lot to modernize it.

Today the king has a smaller budget at his disposal and I think is rightly afraid of

frittering it away unnecessarily.

Buckingham Palace, between Buckingham Palace and Windsor and the other palace is like Clarence

House and like, they've got 1100 or 1200 people working in those situations.
