This is CBS, I On the World. I'm John Batchel with Gregory Copley, my colleague and friend,

and we're talking about King Charles III and celebrating his regency. Gregory's new book is

Noble State, but at the same time, there is now a paradox. I read from the Financial

Times in these last hours. In the end, Canada's election was as much about a man in the White

House as the one who would be Prime Minister in Ottawa. The margin was thin, writes the F.T.

But the verdict from Canadians was clear. With President Donald Trump's tariffs threatening the

foundations of their economy, voters wanted Canada's leader to be the central banker who navigated

the global financial crisis and Brexit. Mark Carney, who until Monday evening was not even a member

of parliament, is now on track to lead a minority government with a mandate to confront

Trump. Gregory, I've watched this election very closely and marveled at the ability of a central

banker, a man who is comfortable in Davos, who has worked for Goldman Sachs, and who has been an

outspoken representative of the real estate interests

these last years, as head of Brookfield, suddenly becomes a politician on the basis of one

decision that he was going to run against Trump as if he was Churchill and Trump was the other guy.

And now that continues after the election.

Here's the puzzle.

King Charles is genuinely, sincerely friendly with Donald Trump and vice versa.

And the king has invited Donald Trump to England, I believe, for his second state dinner,

visit.

And they'll have that wonderful parade in the

courtyard of one of the palaces for Donald Trump. They'll travel, I imagine, together to Scotland.

I'm just guessing now, because I don't know the itinerary. And yet Canada is now preaching as
