I'm John Batcher and this is the King Charles report, the good news of the week.

King Charles not only is a fine monarch and endlessly energetic despite his medical challenges,

but he's about to become currency. What's happened, Gregory?

He is already now on the currency,

which is great because there was talk that his rule or his reign would be short because of his

health problems, but in fact he has been so dynamic in the couple of years that he has been

King that we're seeing, if you like,

a reinvigoration of the prestige of the monarchy and not only that, the power and influence

of the monarchy, not just in the United Kingdom, but globally. And you might recall there

was another brief king in 1938 with King Edward VIII, who succeeded

to the throne only to abdicate shortly thereafter before.

In fact, he had a coronation.

And King Edward, the Eighth, did not figure on the currency.

He wasn't in long enough.

But right now we see things happening at warp speed with the British crown now.

The king is on the currency, on the banknotes and on the coinage.

And this is people scrambling, if you like, to get hold of banknotes and coins with his image on them because it sort of re-inspires

a sense of belonging, a sense of nobility within the economy, within the sense of Britain

as a, shall we say, a confident nation.

And that's been very, very critical.

And it's coming at a time when we're looking at governments trying to end the use of physical

currency.
