moment of the week. The king is welcoming, state welcoming. The emir of Qatar, who is a major voice

throughout his own region on the basis of the enormous amount of income that Qatar has.

It's a small country. Doha is built on the sands of Arabia. And the welcoming is also part of the

history of these two countries. What was the relationship before Qatar became an independent state?

Was it a colony?

How did they regard it in London, Gregory?

We have a couple of minutes.

It wasn't a colony.

It was essentially under the influence of British advisors, found advisors to the local sheikhs.

And this is why they had they organized peace among the warring tribes

of the southern coast of the Arabian, of the Persian Gulf on the Arabian Peninsula.

And that's why you had this phenomenon called the Trucial states. These were all of these micro-states which formed a truce and as a result created the United Arab Emirates.

And we saw the evolution separately of Qatar and of Bahrain.

So they have strong historical ties to Britain.

All of those Gulf Emirates and sultanates and kingdoms have strong relationships with London.

But now, since the election in the United States of President Donald Trump,

they're now moving back towards the West in a serious way,

which is why the Qataris cut off a lot of their ties with

the Turks on funding the Muslim Brotherhood groups, including Hamas, and it's why today we see

Sheikh Tamin bin Hamad al-Tani, the Emir of Qatar, arrive in London with his principal wife, of his three wives,

Shekhajaheher, and they came on a state visit to London.
