Though Gareth repeatedly showed bravery, patience and courtesy, the damsel continued to scorn him.

Eventually, however, she repented and revealed herself as Lynette, sister to Lady Lyons,

Beaumains disclosed his royal lineage to Lynette and Sir Perseant, but asked them to keep it secret.
