On December 20th, 1981, Prince Alex Hoursberg found his mother, Princess Martha

Ayersburg, von Buello, who was known by her nickname Sunny, lying face down on the pink tiles

of her bathroom at Clarendon Court, a 20-room mansion in Newport, Rhode Island.

Sunny was lying face down on the floor.

Her head was underneath the toilet, and her feet were pointing toward the bathtub.

The window was open, and it was freezing.

Sunny was blonde and beautiful, and a mother of three, but she was also a princess and a very wealthy heiress.

Sunny's father, George Crawford, died when she was just three years old and left her his

$100 million fortune. She lived in this palace with her husband, 56-year-old Klaus von Buello,

and their three children. This home was amazing. It was the location

where the movie High Society, starring Grace Kelly, was filmed. And Sunny actually had a lot in

common with Grace Kelly. Grace Kelly was also beautiful, blonde, rich American royalty. Sunny was rushed

to the hospital, and she slipped into a coma. She would lie there in that

private hospital room for the next 28 years. Now, this may sound like the beginning of a Grimm's fairy tale,

and like so many fairy tales, Sunny's story quickly takes a very dark turn. As soon as Sunny was

admitted to the hospital, rumors started

flying at Park Avenue dinner parties because everyone knew that Sunny and Klaus's marriage had been

on the rocks and that this wasn't Sunny's first accident at home. Almost exactly one year earlier,

Sunny had slipped into another coma, also under mysterious circumstances.

What started out as a high society scandal would make international headlines and become one of
